Narragansett

May 14, 2007

As mentioned below, I went to Narragansett today (well, technically yesterday… have I really been editing photo for 5 hours?!) for an engagement session. I had an extra hour to kill before I had to get my Zip Car back to Cambridge. I used to live in Narragansett – spent one summer there doing the beach bum thing – so it was familiar territory. Have to admit, I wanted to stay, especially when I got back to my apartment and Cambridge and unrolled my jeans and sand poured all over the floor and I realized how rare it is for me to have sandy feet.

I have a rule for beach shots – no sunsets (ok, the occasional sunset, such as here and here) and no wide expanses of ocean. Basically, if someone else on the beach is pointing a camera at it, I look elsewhere. It’s interesting what you find at the beach when you turn your back on the water. The ever-sporadic Narragansett Town Beach fair was going on in the beach parking lot. Below are a few from my walk… more to come tomorrow after I get home from work.

Simone + Greg

May 14, 2007

A sunny, but windy day on Narragansett Beach today. I was lucky to be joined by this very handsome couple, who got engaged at The Towers in Narragansett (certainly one of the loveliest spots in New England) just a few months ago. We even got a few shots at the site of their engagement while the room was being prepared for a wedding tonight.

Rhode Island!

May 14, 2007

I had the pleasure of meeting two lovely Rhode Island ladies this weekend.

The first was a boudoir session. Another natural mover- she found her inner-model in no time!

Thanks to makeup artist Bridget for making it after a busy morning wedding. My client was so happy with her work she didn’t want to wash it off! Here are a few from the shoot…

I wanted to offer a variety of packages at different price points, so I created three boudoir packages. There are packages for ladies on a budget (my, oh my, are weddings expensive) and ladies who want the royal treatment (read about my makeup artist and stylist). Click here to see the packages!

Jen is also joining the team as a stylist. Jen modeled and was in beauty pageants as a teenager and is certainly in expert in posing and expressions (that’s her in the header!). She’s modeled for me many times. She’s so good, I thought I’d share her with my clients! She will assist in styling and posing you during your boudoir session. Jen’s rates begin at $50.

Here are some photos I took of her.

I’m thrilled to announce that I have partnered with Bridget Barrett, a freelance makeup artist that has worked for cosmetic giants such as MAC Cosmetics and Estee Lauder. She is a highly skilled makeup artist that is just as friendly as she is talented.

She is available for $50 for a single makeup application for portrait and boudoir sessions at my studio. Her rates for multiple looks (if say, you want to change your makeup from sweet and innocent looking, to a sultry siren), range from $100 – $150, depending on how many looks you would like. Please contact me for rates for marathon boudoir sessions.

Click here to see her portfolio. She does weddings!

Jason & Kathleen

May 9, 2007

Here are some shots for an engagement session I did a few weeks ago in the Blue Hills. Kathleen and Jason were very obviously in love and needed no direction from me! We had a great time trying out a few locations. Though I don’t suggest trying to walk, talk, and futz with your camera at the same time – I fell doing so! Ankles and camera (phew) were fine.

I have another e-session coming up this weekend in Narragansett, RI, one of the most beautiful places in New England (I’m biased, I used to live there).

New boudoir package!

May 2, 2007

Since so many of my clients intend to make albums or books with their boudoir photos, I decided to offer a package that includes a beautiful coffee table-style book.

The package is $375 and includes:

90 minutes of shooting at my studio
Online proofs
CD/DVD of low-resolution images (suitable for viewing on a computer)
Hardcover 11×13 book, which I will design and deliver to you.

Now all you have to do is strut it for the camera. ;)

My book vendor of choice is currently Blurb. See samples below.

Trash the dress!

May 2, 2007

I met a client for coffee today to chat about her upcoming boudoir session. She and her husband are renewing their vows Vegas-style! She clued me in to trash the dress, which is apparently a big trend. After your big day, don’t put that dress in the back of your closet. Instead, roll it in the mud, get it sopping wet, wear it up over your head (one of my personal faves), sit on something rusty, and get your picture taken! As a photographer, this sounds like a lot of fun for me, and I imagine a huge stress reliever for newlyweds. If you want to trash it, I’ll photograph it!
